Tennessee Gas Pipeline Completes Evangeline Pass Expansion Project
Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, L.L.C. has placed the final segment of its Evangeline Pass Expansion Project into service, following FERC approval on May 29, 2025. The 4-mile loop in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, completes a multi-phase project designed to deliver up to 1.1 million dekatherms per day of natural gas to the Venture Global Plaquemines LNG Terminal. With this milestone, the project is now fully operational, enhancing U.S. LNG export capacity and strengthening energy infrastructure along the Gulf Coast.

Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, L.L.C. (TGP) has completed its Evangeline Pass Expansion Project, following final authorization from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to place the project’s last segment—the 4-mile loop pipeline in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana—into service. The Commission approved the request on May 29, and the segment was placed in service the same day.
The 4-mile loop marks the final component of a multi-year effort to expand natural gas transportation capacity from Mississippi to the Gulf Coast. Originally approved by FERC in March 2022, the project allows TGP and Southern Natural Gas Company, L.L.C. to deliver up to 1.1 million dekatherms per day of incremental firm transportation service. The added capacity supplies feed gas to the Venture Global Plaquemines LNG Terminal.
Construction began in September 2023 and was completed in phases, with earlier project segments placed into service in February and May 2025. TGP’s final filing included detailed evidence of environmental compliance, satisfying FERC’s conditions for rehabilitation and restoration.
Now fully operational, the Evangeline Pass Expansion Project strengthens U.S. LNG export infrastructure and enhances energy delivery to global markets—supporting domestic energy development, job creation, and regional economic growth.
